Happy Tuesday!! A couple weekends ago I traveled to Dallas, TX with my good friend for a little staycation at the Fairmont downtown. This was my first time ever in Texas, so I was super excited to visit the southwest and bask in the heat. It was a quick weekend trip, but the Fairmont was so good to us that it was definitely a weekend to remember. When I first checked into the Fairmont, every single person that I spoke to was so unbelievably nice and accommodating. The concierge and doormen especially, always making sure I was happy and covered. One thing that I especially loved was their complimentary car that will take you within a one mile radius of the hotel. This is super nice and convenient if you want to check out the bars/restaurants on Mckinny Street or attend a concert at the American Airlines Center. The hotel is in the absolute perfect location for exploring the city!
When I first got to my room (a HUGE two bedroom suite) I was amazed by the amount of detail they put into everything. Both my friend and I had personalized toiletries in each of our bathrooms and even a bottle of Cabernet Savinougn (our favorite!) was waiting for us to toast a fun girls weekend in Dallas! A local flower shop thats connected to the hotel Franzie’s Flower Design, brought us a bouquet of beautiful pink roses that complimented the room perfectly. I can’t say enough about the actual rooms. They were extremely spacious and clean and the beds were probably one of the most comfortable hotel beds I’ve ever stayed in.
For breakfast, we checked out the restaurant located in the hotel called Pyramid Restaurant and Bar. We started with an assortment of fresh pressed juices (my favorite being the cucumber, lime and cilantro) and had a gourmet breakfast spread of an egg-white omelet, banana nut french toast (it’s all about balance, right?) and the green onion hash browns- a must have! We were then brought over an amazing little portion of oatmeal brule to end an amazing meal. The service we received from the waitstaff was just as amazing as the meal itself. After breakfast, we headed up to the pool for a day in the sun. It was SO hot while we were in Dallas, so it was so nice to have a pool to hang out in all day. They have a pool bar that serves all types of fun drinks and snacks. I had the watermelon margarita, which was the perfect drink for a warm summer day. I was very surprised by how nice the actual pool area itself was. It felt like being back home at the country club pool or somewhere I would go to just hang out on the regular- it was huge!
The following day we were headed to Waco, so we stocked up on Starbucks (also conveniently located off the hotel lobby) to give us fuel for the 2 hour drive. We were super excited to go visit Magnolia Farms because we are both huge fans of the show “Fixer Upper,” I mean who doesn’t love Chip and Joanna Gaines?! It was such a fun day exploring another city in Dallas and would definitely recommend renting a car for the day to enjoy Waco!
We had such a great visit at the Fairmont and would highly recommend it to anyone who is traveling to Dallas in the future. The staff will go out of their way to make sure you’re stay is nothing short of amazing.
I rounded up some of my recommendations of places to go while visiting Dallas, I hope you find this helpful!
Dinner:
Pecan Lodge: Long lines but amazing BBQ. They don’t take reservations so expect to wait at least 30-45 minutes. We waited around 30 minutes, but the food was SO worth it!
Urban Taco: A cute little tex-mex restaurant located in Uptown on Mckenny Street. It was packed and had such a fun vibe, including open air outdoor seating and live music. We had a trio of guacamole and lettuce wrap tacos. Even the skinny margarita was delicious!
Pōk The Raw Bar: I kind of have a Poke obsession and this place is trendy and so cute. It’s a Poke/ Matcha bar that offers traditional bowls or build your own. I haven’t gotten into the Matcha craze, but it was crazy busy with people ordering it!
Drinks:
The Happiest Hour: SUCH a fun place located super close to the hotel. This place is huge and is perfect for after work cocktails and happy hour snacks. We sat in the inside, however there is an awesome outdoor patio area if you’re brave enough to sit in the heat.
The Pyramid Bar (located in the Fairmont): This bar is super classy! It’s the perfect spot to hang if you’re staying at the hotel or even just popping by for a drink. It’s a lively atmosphere for being inside a hotel.
Dessert: Emporium Pies: We stopped here after dinner and every single pie looked amazing! I have a friend who lives in Dallas and this is her favorite place to pick up dessert after dinner. They have a two locations in the city.
Entertainment: American Airlines Center: We attended the Ed Sheeran concert there and it was in such an amazing location. If you are coming to see a Mavericks game or concert, the Fairmont is walking distance (or take the complimentary car!) to the venue.
House of Blues Dallas: We didn’t go here, but it was also in close proximity to the hotel. The House of Blues always holds fun concerts and events, so staying at the Fairmont is a must if it’s on your to-go list! It also has a fun outdoor area where we noticed lots of people playing games like bags right outside the venue.
Thank you Fairmont Dallas for having us!!
