Bridesmaid Dresses with Rent the Runway

Being a bridesmaid is hard work! I’ve been in a couple weddings myself and know the time and money that’s spent into making sure you look the part for your bestie’s wedding, no matter what it takes. Back when I first got engaged and started envisioning how I wanted my wedding to look, I knew I really wanted to play up the “glam Gatsby” look.  Black tie, super fancy… I was all for it!  A few conversations down the line, I realized I didn’t want to put the pressure on all the guests attending to be in “Black tie” but I still wanted to add elegant elements to every part of it- even if that meant my girls in gold sequins and the guys in tuxes.

Rent the Runway Wedding Concierge

After researching different bridesmaid dresses online, I quickly fell in love with the Badgley Mischka gold sequin gowns, but with a price tag of $700 and up, I knew I obviously wouldn’t be asking each girl to spend that much on a dress… for one day.  Luckily for me, Rent the Runway came to the rescue! I’ve used Rent the Runway many times before for dresses as a wedding guest, or for a big event, but never even knew that they had an entire section dedicated to bridesmaid dresses or dresses for the bride (showers, bachelorette party, etc!)  They also had the EXACT dresses I wanted- the Badgley Mischka sequin gowns for far under the retail price!  What I love about this idea is that you work one on one with a member of their wedding concierge to help reserve all the dresses in the sizes that you need for the big day, which starts at only $159 per bridesmaid.  This includes access to their entire collection of bridesmaid designer dresses, personal styling consultations (if needed!), a dedicated concierge to assist with all orders, at home (or in-store try on) and access to perks at other companies such as Black Tux, Zola, Minted etc.  As always, Rent the Runway lets you reserve your typical size and a backup size free of charge.  I chose to host a little get together at my house to have each of the girls try on the dresses and decide which style and size flattered them the most.  Surprisingly, all the girls ended up choosing a different style and found the perfect fit that day- so we knew exactly which dresses to order! Once the big day was over, all the girls needed to do was ship them back in the prepaid box and voila! no dress that they will most likely ever wear again taking up room in their closet.   I had such an amazing experience using the Wedding Concierge at Rent the Runway, and I would definitely recommend the service to any bride whos looking for affordable yet stunning dresses for their girls!

Gifts for the Girls

Giving gifts the day of is a nice little added touch to let your girls know how appreciated they are. I found these adorable name hangers on Etsy and knew they’d be perfect to give to each of the girls with their dresses.  I love how you can customize the colors for the names and the bows and they are very high quality.  Plus they look pretty cute for a photo op 😉

I also found these burlap bags on Etsy and had them initialed in gold to match the theme.  These were perfect for transporting all their things to the venue and will make perfect overnight bags after the fact.

To get ready, I wanted to make sure we all had something cute to wear, so I gifted each of the girls a pair of Kate Spade pajamas which are sadly no longer available (I wore these) and another adorable hanger from Etsy.  I was blown away by the custom “Mrs. Obiala” hanger they made for me, and I still use it all the time to this day!  They’re also super affordable and can be customized to just about anything.

Lastly, what Bridesmaid is complete without a good smelling fragrance to last them throughout the day? I absolutely love the Tocca perfume and knew my girls would love them too.  I gifted each of them a matching Tocca perfume, hand cream, and candle… the bottles are just so beautiful!

A HUGE thank you to Rent The Runway, My Etsy Partners & Tocca… and of course MY BRIDESMAIDS for helping make this day the best!
