Happy hump day everyone! Last week I got the opportunity to go to San Francisco and stay at The Marker hotel right in the middle of Union Square. Before checking in, I had done some research and knew that the Marker hotel would be perfect due to it’s fun colors and boutique-feel. The Marker is part of the JDV (Joie de vivre) hotel collection (think The Saguro in Palm Springs!) so all of their hotels have more of the boutique vibe and are locally cultural to the areas they are in.
I was immediately in awe when I walked into this hotel… fun decor and bright colors everywhere, especially in the bedroom. The prints and colors almost reminded me of Kate Spade-like feel which I thought was amazing! Included in each stay is complimentary wi-fi, coffee and tea in the morning, access to their gym, an evening social hour with wine (because who doesn’t enjoy a glass of wine?!), and it’s also pet friendly! The location couldn’t be better… it was blocks away from the uber-popular Union Square and the huge Macy’s. The Christmas tree was already set up in the middle of the square, but sadly the lights weren’t turned on yet.
If you get a chance to venture out to San Francisco, I highly recommend staying at this hotel- you won’t be disappointed!! Luckily while I was there, I got to try some amazing restaurants so I thought I’d share some of my favorites:
LihoLiho Yacht Club– This place is delicious and definitely my favorite! It’s super trendy and wasn’t far from the hotel (walking distance). It’s really hard to get a reservation but the bar seating is first come first serve, so luckily I was able to snag a seat at the bar. If you ever go, I highly recommend the tuna poke appetizer!
Hog Island Oyster Bar– If you love oysters like me, you’ll love the Hog Island Oyster bar! They’re on the pricier side for oysters, but it’s in the Ferry Building right off the water, so you know these are fresh. I sat at the oyster bar and watched them shuck them right there- so much fun!
Padrecito– This adorable Mexican restaurant was a little bit of a hike from the hotel, but was SO delicious. We started off with some chips and 3 different salsas, followed by some ceviche and tacos. Everything was super fresh and authentic tasting, plus the decor and atmosphere was on point. I would definitely come back here for the tacos alone, next time I am in town.
Lemonade– If you love lemonade, you will love this place! They have all sorts of homemade lemonade flavors everyday such as Watermelon Rosemary (the best!), original, Coconut Apple & Lime, and a seasonal flavor. I didn’t actually get to eat here, even though the food looked amazing (sort of a cafeteria style feel), but I did get the lemonade twice in one day… it was THAT good!
BOWLD Acai– I didn’t realize at first that this was a food truck, but the poke bowl is to die for. Bowld Acai is a food truck that serves juices and poke, and it’s super fresh. The bowl was full of brown rice, spinach, tuna and spicy sauce. You can also get fresh made Acai bowls from there as well, but sadly I didn’t get to try one. If you’re looking for something healthy and fast- this is a must!
